Mr Eric Eli Adzie, Chairman of the Volta Regional Chapter of the Sports Writers Association of Ghana (SWAG), led members of the Association to pay a courtesy call on the Volta Regional Minister, Hon. James Gunu.
The meeting was aimed at congratulating the Minister on his appointment and to discuss potential collaboration areas, particularly in the area of sports promotion and development in the region.
The SWAG Volta Regional Chairmnan who also have oversight responsibility on Oti Region, commended the Minister for his swift response to critical regional concerns, including the water shortage, disturbance at Sokode Senior High School, and the tidal waves issue at Agavedzi.
Chairman Adzie expressed confidence in the Minister’s proactive support for sports, citing his donation to the National Sports Authority, and the initiation of the Volta Regional Minister’s Cup.
He also commended him for testing the operationalisation of the Youth Resource Center.
Hon. James Gunu acknowledged the importance of sports writers in the region, their contribution to sports development, and the need for balanced reportage.
He promised to meet SWAG in two weeks at a breakfast meeting to solicit ideas for sports development in the region.
The Minister also assured the association of his commitment to developing sports in the region.
The meeting marks a significant step towards fostering collaboration between the sports media and the government in promoting sports development in the Volta Region.
SWAG Volta/Oti will continue playing a crucial role in promoting and developing sports in the region and Ghana.
