The Sports Writers Association of Ghana

The Sport Writers Association of Ghana (SWAG) is a professional body in Ghana that includes as sports journalist, analysts, commentators and recognized sports associations in Ghana.
The Association was formed in 1968 and registered in at the registerer general department of Ghana. As part of its contribution to the promotion and development of sports in Ghana, they have two flagship events that are held to promote the sports sector.
The SWAG Awards and SWAG Cup are the major flagship events of the association.
The SWAG Awards is a platform to honor and reward outstanding sports personalities in the previous years and also serves as a motivation for athletes to excel in other to get the tag “SWAG Award Winner.”

The SWAG Cup is also the official shutdown match for the football season. It is a one-off cup match played between two selected clubs at the end of the season. It is also called H.P. Nyemitei Cup as it is played in honor of former GFA and Accra Hearts of Oak Director, Henry Plange Nyemitei, who also worked at the SIC Insurance Company who are sponsors of match.
