Former Enyimba FC goalkeeper, Fatau Dauda has denied media reports and rumors that he used black magic (Juju) against his former Black Stars teammate Adam Kwarasey.
Kwarasey was Ghana’s first choice going into the 2014 FIFA World Cup and even kept the post in the Black Stars’ first game against the United States of America. But two calamitous mistakes in that game which Ghana eventually lost led to Kwarasey losing his place to Fatau Dauda.
That episode and the fact that Kwarasey never felt comfortable in a Black Stars shirt led to allegations that he was the victim of Black Magic from his competitors.
But according to Fatau who benefited from Kwarasey’s gaffes at the 2014 FIFA World Cup in Brazil, he does not believe in the efficacy of black magic in football and thus will not even think of using it against a teammate no matter how desperate he is.
Dauda made these clarifications in an interview with GhanaWeb Sports Editor, Daniel Oduro on Sports Check.
“For me, I pray a lot and I do so not because I want to perform better but for God to protect me from injuries. Without training and hard work your prayers for better performance will not work so for me, it’s about working hard.”
In the last couple of years, Norway-based goalkeeper Adam Larsen Kwarasey has turned down two invitations by Black Stars coach James Kwesi Appiah and is said to have told close friends that he is unlikely to feature for the Ghana national team again.
Meanwhile, Fatau has revealed his ambition to play in the Chan tournament after playing in the world prestigious tournaments with the senior national team, the Black Stars of Ghana.
“I have played in the world Cup, African Cup, Champions League and Confederation Cup but the only tournament I’m yet to feature in is the Chan tournament and I’m still learning hard to get the opportunity, “he added.
