The Sports Writers Association of Ghana (SWAG) is pleased to announce the formation of the Nomination Committee for the 49th SWAG Awards, Ghana’s premier sports awards ceremony.
This esteemed committee is tasked with selecting deserving individuals for recognition at the prestigious awards ceremony, honoring outstanding achievements in sports for the year under review.
The Nomination Committee comprises experienced sports journalists, industry experts, and respected personalities who will meticulously review and nominate outstanding achievers in various sports categories, including football, athletics, boxing, tennis, and more.
The committee’s expertise and passion for sports excellence will ensure a thorough and transparent nomination process, recognizing the most deserving athletes, coaches, and sports personalities.
“We are delighted to assemble this committee, comprising distinguished individuals who share our passion for sports excellence,” said Kwabena Yeboah, SWAG President.
“Their expertise will ensure a comprehensive and impartial nomination process, reflecting the best of Ghanaian sports. We are confident that their efforts will result in a well-deserving list of nominees for the 49th SWAG Awards.”
The 49th SWAG Awards Nomination Committee members are:
• Mr Kenneth Odeng Adade – Chairman
• Mr Maurice Quansah – Member
• Ms Matilda Dimedo – Secretary
• Mr Gabriel Obu – Member
• Mr Bright Yeboah Taylor – Member
• Mr Yaw Kyei Baffour – Member
• Mr Mohammed Shaban – Member
The committee will work diligently to ensure a comprehensive and impartial nomination process, considering factors such as performance, achievements, and contributions to sports development in Ghana.
The nominees will be announced in December ahead of the awards ceremony scheduled for January 24, 2025, at the Accra International Conference Center.
SWAG President Kwabena Yeboah, emphasized the significance of the nomination process, stating, “The SWAG Awards have been a benchmark for sports excellence in Ghana for nearly five decades.
