SWAG’S TREASURER OWURAKU NSIAH ARRIVES IN LAUSANNE FOR THE 88TH AIPS CONGRESS

Mr Owuraku Nsiah, Treasurer for the Sports Writers Association of Ghana (SWAG),  has arrived in Lausanne for the 88th Congress of the International Sports Press Association (AIPS).

The congress convened from April 10 to 14, 2026, in Lausanne, reinforces the Swiss city’s reputation as the Olympic Capital and a focal point for global sports governance and media discourse.

It is staged at the renowned Olympic Museum, offering an inspiring setting overlooking Lake Geneva for deliberations on the future of sports journalism.

Bringing together hundreds of delegates from across continents, the congress will provide a high-level platform for examining critical issues shaping the industry. Key themes include the rapid evolution of digital media, ethical responsibilities in sports reporting, the fight against misinformation, and the increasing influence of technology on storytelling and audience engagement.

Through panel discussions, workshops, and institutional visits, participants will be exposed to contemporary trends and best practices redefining the profession.

Ghana is being represented by Owuraku Nsiah, who serves as Treasurer of the Sports Writers Association of Ghana and is affiliated with Sikka FM in Kumasi, together with Ms Akosua Addai Armoo Esq., a member.

The two will participate actively in the sessions, contributing to discussions while gaining insight into the global sports media landscape.

Reflecting on his experience, Owuraku underscored the significance of the congress in enhancing professional competence and broadening perspectives.

He described the engagement as both enriching and transformative, noting that the knowledge acquired would have a lasting impact on his work and the wider Ghanaian sports media ecosystem.

“I have learnt a lot in the past few days,” he stated, emphasizing that the exposure to diverse viewpoints and innovative practices has strengthened his approach to journalism, ” he added.

Equally important, he highlighted the value of networking opportunities facilitated by the congress. Interactions with fellow journalists, editors, and media executives from around the world, he said, were invaluable in fostering collaborations and building lasting professional relationships that transcend borders.

The 88th AIPS Congress once again demonstrates its enduring relevance as a global forum for sports journalists, promoting excellence, integrity, and innovation in the field.

For delegates such as Owuraku Nsiah, the Lausanne gathering not only provides a platform for learning and engagement but also reaffirmed the critical role of sports media in shaping narratives and advancing the global sporting movement.
